BACKGROUND

Experience

Cassandra’s background and experience engaging in our community show her commitment to children. 

Dedicated Trustee

  • Current CFBISD School Board President 
  • Prior CFBISD School Board Secretary 
  • Master Trustee designation by completing over 
  • 75 hours of a School Board Leadership Development Program 
  • 88th Legislative Session TASB Legislative Advisory Council


Experience as an Educator 

  • Former elementary & middle school mathematics teacher
  • Former CFB elementary mathematics specialist
  • M.Ed. in K-12 school administration with a specialization in conflict resolution
  • Experience as Adjunct Lecturer for Southern Methodist University, teaching future math teachers and principals
  • Senior Research Project Manager for STEM education research projects 
  • Director of Operations for STEM education research unit
 

Passion for Community Engagement 

  • Service for local PTAs as a coordinator for science fair and family STEM night, and Bingo & Loteria.
  • Service as PTA Vice President of Ways and Means and Vice President of Membership
  • Service on the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas STEM Advisory Committee
  • Service as a troop cookie manager for a girl scout troop
  • Service on the CFBISD District Improvement Committee as the secretary
  • Service on the Janie Stark Elementary Campus Improvement Committee as a parent


Believes in CFB and Public Education

  • Resident for 7 years, after moving to the district because of the quality of the schools
  • Parent of two children in CFB schools; chose the CFB school of choice option, for dual language (elementary) and theater (middle school)
  • Attends and engages in school and community functions 
  • An advocate for all students, believing in the power of identifying and supporting the needs of each child
  • Actively engages with Texas House Representatives and Senators to advocate for CFBISD and all of public education
